How to Register for Mpesa as a Foreigner
Mpesa is probably the easiest form of banking anyone can use, you can register and start using in less than 10 minutes and it doesn't matter which country or region you come from. Unlike traditional banks where in some cases you have to provide proof of employment or money source, Mpesa is free for all as long you can get the cash to deposit, send or receive.
If you are a foreigner, the only thing you will need is an a Safaricom SIM card (either post paid or pre paid) which costs about $1-$2 for depending on where you are buying it from.
You will also need either of the following documents during the registration.
Kenyan National ID
Passport, Military ID
To register, just walk into any shop written "MPESA" and ask the Agent to register your line. Remember it is FREE of Charge and no one has a right to ask you for any money to do the registration.
