Yahoo Mail Shuts Down Email Services in China

Yahoo email services have been shut down in china and users asked to transfer their accounts to Alibaba's Alimail. This closure was announced in April which was part of its plan to increase its stake after acquiring part of Alibaba back  in 2005.

A notice written on yahoo emails site says that users with @yahoo.com.cn and @yahoo.cn suffixes can register and transfer their email accounts to Alimail. where they will continue receiving and sending to their Yahoo emails until 31 December 2013.

Yahoo bought a 40% stake in Alibaba for $1 billion, and since then Alibaba has grown to become among the top internet companies in China, and although Yahoo sold out its 16%, the remaining investment, the remaining is valued at $14 Billion.
